Description of settlement: This villaga of a bit more than 300 inhabitants was first recorded in 1248 as Cho and in the 16th century the prefix "noble" was attached to this name referring to the ownership of the lower nobility. The vestiges of a Neolithic settlement, a post along the Amber road have been discovered just outside the village. According to Act 26 of 1681 Nemescsó was designated for Lutherans to freely exercise their religion in Vas County as a so called articular place where they held worship in two churches according to their language. The small community became an intellectual centre because of this special situation.
